The Royal House of Prolix

The House of Prolix first appeared in the written human record about the time of 2500 AC when the first human settlers fled their northern homeland for the serene southern shores of Korth. Edward Prolix, a young, but respected-for-his-age 2 star captain in the Moiran Armed Navy, makes the first historical appearance of his family upon the winter morning that he led hundreds of fellow army and navy soldiers with their families overseas on the maiden voyage to Korth. However, the life of Edward Prolix passed quickly with little other issue. Edward Prolix captained the maiden voyage to Korth but fell ill on the journey and was burieed at sea only a week before arriving on the shores of Korth.

As the first human settlers marched their way into the old elven city Kor'ethel, a single young woman of 20 years climbed off the boat, sat upon the beach of the new promised land, and gave birth to a baby girl: the first human ever born in the land of Korth. When questioned as to the name of the baby, the young woman replied "Sara Prolix, daughter of Edward Prolix". The baby girl would live a quiet life with her mother among the human people.

The new human country would be named Prolix, in honor of the fallen leader Edward Prolix. But a royal house was not yet forged for the human people demanded a democracy, and so 95 years of the Prolix Republic blossomed on the land that once belonged to the elves. The Prolix Republic survived multiple wars with the violent native races of Korth: the dwarves, the elves, and most notably the drows. The human people held 9 successful elections yielding 4 distinct, honorable men to reign over the human countryside as Chancellor.

The baby Sara Prolix would grow up to enter into three marriages at various points of her life. The first marriage was an arranged union to a wizard, and bore a son named Goshenta Spiritus. The arrangement did not work and Sara found love with a hard-working crystal merchant. This second marriage bore another son named Josepha Tomkewycz. When the Prolix market collapsed for the first time due to the elven wars, Sara was widowed and her son Josepha kidnapped. As a decade of solitude passed, Sara once again found her true soul mate, this time a swordsman, in her third marriage bearing her third and final son named Cain Leon.

Cain Leon proved in his early years to be a hot-headed brat with a sword. He spent several years bouncing around Prolix between short military services and jail for hostile crimes against the native elves. In addition, he carried on two life-long affairs, each affair bearing a son. One affair with the Chancellor's executive assistant led to the eldest son named Adam; and the other with a fellow female soldier led to the younger son Vladamire. Both sons would one day grow up to lead Prolix in their own natural right.

Adam was chosen first as the Deputy Chancellor when his half-uncle Goshenta Spiritus campaigned & was elected as Chancellor of Prolix in 2590 AC. When the human people voted to install Goshenta as the Ephor of Prolix in 2595 AC, effectively creating the first human monarchy in Korth, Adam was elevated as Deputy King of Prolix. Goshenta and Adam saw Prolix into a brief period of peaceful relations with the Pylos drows and Dr. Duke's elves. The drows, led by Garrick, took advantage of this peace and invaded the entire land of Korth. "A drow can never and should never be trusted.. Watch over the human people", were the final words of the Ephor Goshenta Spiritus upon his death bed to his nephew Adam.

Adam rallied the humans living under the oppressive drows to settle at a central location that he named L'Obsul. He maintained his title as Deputy King to pay homage to his uncle the Ephor. His two sons: Father (born of a human mother) and Hunter (born of an elven mother) closely guarded L'Obsul township at all hours for their father the deputy king. Adam gained the favor of Garrick so that for a time L'Obsul worked to spy on the drows to uncover a path to human freedom. In his later years, Adam passed the crown onto his full-blooded human son Father.

Father, an arrogant, but cunning leader, took up the Prolix crown with the title "the Arch-spirit". His first action as the leader of the human people was to break off all ties to the Pylos drows. He forced political chaos among the drow's ranks and used that cunning advantage to arm every human to defend their land. Any non-human that entered the L'Obsul township was killed on-sight without warning. While taking the aggresor stance, Father expanded L'Obsul eastward across the Shokkus River to its present area to become the heavily fortified and well-guarded Prolix Union of Townships. By arming every man, woman, and child of Prolix, the Arch-spirit was able to earn human independence from the drows forever. However, once the Arch-spirit attained absolute power over Prolix as an independent nation, his hot-headed grandfather Cain's personality appeared. The Arch-spirit became mad with power on more than one occasion and often times incited war with the elves out of boredom. He was thrice kicked off the throne by his closest advisors, and he thrice came back every time with an army of supporters to reclaim his proper place. At the end of the day, as mad with power as the Arch-spirit was, he was a true human. A true human that made mistakes, got carried away with passion, and often became obsessed with questing for more knowledge. Such is the way of the human people and is why the Arch-spirit can never truly be killed. Other rulers have come and gone to reign over Prolix but the Arch-spirit always maintained a presence upon the throne until the end of the Dragon Wars.

Following the reign of the Arch-spirit Father, a still unknown yet firm woman stood up out of the crowd to take control of Prolix. All that is known is that she led the human people for a month and that she often claimed "the sorceress" as her official title. All documents from that month, including the woman's name, was burned by the son of Sara Prolix and Joseph Tomkewycz upon his arrival to reclaim the crown of Prolix for the Royal House of Prolix.

Xandrake Tomkewycz rose to prominence with his fierce dragon companion Vervada. He claimed himself as the Archduke of Prolix, the son of Sara Prolix and Joseph Tomkewycz. Described as a "merchant warrior" personally, Xandrake stimulated the human economy to the highest it has ever been up until that time. Trade with the elves was enforced aggressively, pursuant to the code of warrior ethics. Tragically, it was the trade with the elves that wold lead to the Archduke's untimely death. Trade raised an unprecedented level of contact with the elves so much so that Xandrake himself fell in love with an elven princess named Attasha. For some time, Xandrake courted Attasha and eventually proposed marriage to bring the elven princess to live in the Prolix castle. The elven king, Ashanrai, did not approve of the marriage, and so he with his dragon companion Erenrai disowned Xandrake and Attasha as the pair slept upon their wedding night in the Prolix castle.

Vladamire Leon, the second son of Cain, returned to the land to lead the human people in the name of Prolix. With the Prolix economy thriving thanks to Xandrake, Vladamire was able to put more emphasized funding into technological innovation. However the hot-headed spirit of Cain flared once again in a descendent. Vladamire became compulsively obsessed with one project that he called the "Proli'xian Lightning Sword". In one night, chaos broke out at the viceroy's palace. All the advisors in Vladamire's court were fired in a fit of rage. Feeling empowered, Vladamire is said to have used the Proli'xian Lightning Sword and evaporated from this realm.

With the royal house of Prolix appearing extinct, a new family rose to power on the throne. The Zopel clan was one of the first families of settlers; through the years they remained at the top of high society as if waiting for their time on the throne to come. Three individual reigns passed with the royal house of Zopel and the status quo of Prolix was forever changed. The Zopel rulers were so corrupted by absolute power that each one was kidnapped by the human people and forced to sign the Magna Carta of Prolix to severely limit imperial power and provide for democratic elections of the Prolix military judicial branch.

In the first election for Prime Marshall (the head of the military/courts), a man distantly descended from humans, elves, & dragons was elected: William Seran Adams I, known simply as "Seran". Seran was born in a far off elven monastery to his half-elf human mother Sara Adams and the elven leader Ashanrai as the father. As discussed above, Sara Adams was the child born to Adam in his retirement years with the elves. Seran grew up studying elven culture and religious texts. Through his early learning years, he uncovered the truth behind the elven system and renounced his previous elven faith and disowned his elven heritage. Seran, now aware that the real power of the universe resides in the human spirit, completely devotes his life toward The Prolix Empire's advancement of the human spirit. The Prime Marshall became a spiritual position for the human people.

In the end, the democratically elected position of Prime Marshall (the head of the military) evolved into a more appealing, powerful position than the royal monarch. Emperor Jackson Zopel issued a formal resignation of the Royal House Zopel from the throne, with recommendation to crown Seran Adams, a man elected by the human people, as Imperator. Jackson went on to campaign for the Prime Marshall position and won the people's favor to that post.

Imperator Seran ruled an administration that incorporated all of the traits of his predecessors into divisions within the unified Prolix metropolis. The Human Spirit is much more than any single set of traits. It is a collective of diverse, evolving ideas joined as a unit for the greater good of mankind.
