Charter for the University of Korth
Article I: Name
This organization shall be henceforth known as the University of Korth or the U of K.
Article II: Focus of the U of K
A. Affordable and quality accessibility of informational and storytelling education to newcomers and existing role players, without regard to race, creed, gender, or age.
B. Encouraging citizens to work together as a cohesive force i.e. as a community or communities, committee, organized group, or corresponding teams
C. Initiating efforts to bring more outsiders from Active Worlds to participate.
D. Working to better encourage utilizing the AWMyths forums to write up stories based closely on the roleplay from AWMyths and its ancillary functions of asking questions, trading, communication and constructive debate, etc.
Article III: General Goals and Aims of the U of K
A. Offer educational classes using the existing systems and also when those systems change and evolve to newcomers and long standing role players alike.
B. Encourage the AWMyths player community use of existing facilities.
C. Facilitate the education of newcomers to the AWMyths world and how it functions
D. Formulate a plan of recruitment or publicity within Active Worlds without becoming too aggressive
E. Facilitate better communication and collaboration within the scope of these goals
Article IV: Core Missions
A. Classes and this institution must provide free flow of knowledge that promotes players to be more self-sufficient out of which characters can then have a strong base for livelihood.
B. Classes and this institution will provide cultural strength for that character’s species and cultural practices whenever plausible.
C. Classes and this institution are to encourage and substantiate existing role play storylines whenever possible.
Article V: Meetings
A. Meetings shall commence at the appointed times with the Headmaster or Head mistress and the University staff and its instructors in several ways to determine necessary goals and discuss specific agenda:
1. within the confines of the campus facilities as specified
2. online within the forum boards as needed
3. after or before classes
B. Meetings will be scheduled by either the Headmaster or Headmistress of the U of K or their appointed deputy
Article VI: Tuition fees and student supplies
I got very little worked out so far in this area.
Article V: Degrees and Diplomas
So far I got very little here! LOL
I need some feedback here on whether or not we should have people taking the same classes a specified number of times or complete all the courses the U of K has to offer or just complete the courses in one or two departments, etc.
Be it known that getting a degree or diploma should not be an impossible task but it should not be extremely easy either. We need to hit a middle ground with this. Should we have more than one degree or diploma to offer?
Should it be a requirement that the student teach at least one course of some kind to obtain their diploma or degree? And learning to teach a course can be a learning experience all on its own. We would get more instructors that way!
Article VIII: Governance and Officials
A. The Headmaster or Headmistress will be in charge of the University and its decision making body.
B. The decision making body shall be called the Council of the Univeristy of Korth, or the Council.
B. The instructors and staff shall, along with the head of the U of K, make up the Council.
D. The Council shall advise and work with the Head of the U of K to more effectively make constructive and informed decisions.
E. Finality of decisions regarding finance, building, and supplies for the University shall be determined by the Head of the U of K.
F. The Headmaster or Headmistress, staff, or instructors can be removed from their appointed posts for the following reasons:
1. not showing up repeatedly at specified times, ie for scheduled classes or scheduled meetings
2. corruption as determined by an official hearing held by the U of K
3. actively working against the stated goals of the U of K for their own personal agenda
4. otherwise not doing their job to further the stated goals of the U of K
G. Removal of the specified individual shall be accomplished by a simple majority vote of the rest of the staff, instructors and/or the Head of the University as applicable.
H. Votes among this governing body concerning removal of an individual from their post shall have equal weight.
I. The one corrupted as determined by an official hearing shall not have a vote in deciding whether they retain their own post.
Article IX: Corruption
A. All instructors, students and other associates of the U of K will work against corruption by the Evil Garrick and other hostile forces in all thier forms.
B. Rejection of any bribery and/or extortion attempts by Evil Garrick and any of his servants, representatives, ambassadors, forces or minions is expected.
C. Any influence of Evil Garrick, and any of his forces, upon the U of K will be investigated and a hearing held to determine guilt or innocence of the instigators with review of evidence and punishment decided.
D. A panel of judges shall preside over the hearing and hear evidence, determine guilt or innocence, and conduct sentencing as decided among themselves.
E. Punishment can and shall include removal of the troublemaker and/or the corrupted from the campus and its satellite institutions and facilities.
F. The Headmaster or Headmistress and/or those who she or he decrees worthy of who be on the panel of judges will be the judge or judges for said investigation and hearing.
G. In the case of the Headmaster or Headmistress under suspicion of corruption the specified deputy shall decree who is worthy to be on the panel of judges.
H. The panel of judges at the hearing cannot be an even number to prevent any ties from happening. Thus the panel must be a minimum number of at least three or five of the governing body of the U of K.
I. The accused may not be included on the panel of judges for their own hearing.
Article X: Amendments
A. Amendments can be made to this charter by the existing members of the governing body of the U of K by a simple majority vote.
B. Amendments can be removed or changed in this charter by the existing members of the governing body by a simple majority vote.
C. In case of a tie vote, the Head of the U of K shall have the power to break the tie.
